Synonyms: Interleukin-6,BSF2,HSF,IFNB2
Accession: P05231
Description:IL-6 is similar to other interleukins in that it has a compact globular folding structure and is held in place by two disulfide bonds. The cysteine involved in forming these two disulfide bonds is highly conserved. IL-6, expressed by a variety of cells, regulates cell growth and differentiation in various tissues and is an important pro-inflammatory and immunomodulatory cytokine. In addition, IL-6 is also involved in hematopoiesis, bone metabolism, and cancer production.
Source: HEK293 cells-derived human IL-6 protein, Met1-Met212, with C-terminal His tag.
Purity: ≥90% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Endotoxin: < 1 EU per 1μg of the protein by the LAL method.
Predicted N terminal: Met.
Molecular Mass: The recombinant human IL-6 consists of 218 amino acids and has a calculated molecular mass of 22.75 kDa. And it migrates as 25-37 kDa under reducing (R) condition (SDS-PAGE) due to glycosylation.
Formulation: Supplied as sterile PBS, pH 7.4.
SDS-PAGE:
The ED50 as determined by a cell proliferation assay using human TF-1 cells is 0.23-0.48 ng/mL, corresponding to a specific activity of > 2.0 × 106 IU/mg. Fully biologically active when compared to standard.
Handling: Centrifuge vial prior to opening.
Do not vortex after reconstitution.
Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Reconstitution: Initially reconstitute in water to 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. Store at 2℃ to 8℃ for up to 1 week or prepare for extended storage.
Extended Storage: After initial reconstitution, further dilute in a buffer containing a carrier protein or stabilizer (e.g. 0.1% BSA). Store working aliquots at -20℃ to 80℃.
